DesignShop + Habitat for Humanity = Making A Difference

Trade Show Firm Creates Banner for Orlando Women’s Build Week

ORLANDO, FL – May 20, 2011 – DesignShop, Inc., a local trade show exhibit firm, donates custom banner for Habitat for Humanity 2011 Women’s Build Week.

The annual event held as part of Habitat for Humanity’s continuing efforts to address housing for the underprivileged, was first held in 2008. In 2010, the first Orlando event was held. At that time, over $82,000 was raised by 420 Florida women who spent 2,500 hours building a home for the Tolliver family. The goal for 2011′s event was over $100,000 raised and the completion of a home for another family in need.

Women’s Build Week is held near Mother’s Day to bring attention to the 12 million children in the United States who are in need of a safe home. Habitat for Humanity has been building affordable housing for those in need since 1976, and as of 2011 the event has helped to build over 1,400 houses nationwide. The organization’s goal is to address poverty and insufficient housing in the United States through its over 2,000 affiliate programs nationwide. Globally, 2 million people have currently benefited from a Habitat for Humanity program.

To help bring attention to Habitat’s efforts, DesignShop created a 48″ x 96″ vinyl banner proudly announcing it was Women’s Build Week in Orlando. The banner, similar to one DesignShop created for Women’s Build last year, displayed Habitat’s signature logo, as well as the logos of numerous important sponsors. The flower logo for Women’s Build features a hammer for a shadow, representing Lowe’s Home Improvement, who has supported the program since the initial Women’s Build in 2008. The sign became a popular background for participants to snap a photo commemorating the event, according to Habitat Executive Director Dee Danmeyer.
